About us
- The lead bodies at each university are as follows:
- The Community University Partnership Programme (Cupp) was initiated in 2003 at the University of Brighton. Our aim is to tackle disadvantage and promote sustainable development through partnership working between the University and its local communities;
- At the University of Sussex, the objective of the Sussex Institute is to foster positive change in individuals and their communities. The Centre for Community Engagement has a long tradition of innovative work with disadvantaged people and communities both locally and regionally.
- The University of Chichester is the only university in West Sussex and their Hub & Spoke method of community partnership is a distinctive approach which impacts on and enriches the lives of an extended number of individuals in the community who are able to share and pass on their learning to further individuals and community members.
Working with voluntary and community groups is creating a new culture within University relationships, stimulating understanding and new attitudes with academics and members of the community developing greater respect for what they can learn from each other – enhancing social relationships, networks and trust as the University and communities learn to exchange skills and knowledge for the benefit of all.
